COP29 Youth Dialogues
The COP29 Climate Conference, scheduled for November 2024, is a pivotal global event where world leaders, experts, and activists gather to address the urgent climate crisis. In honour of COP29, Generation Global invites young people to participate in the COP29 Youth Dialogues, a series of video conferences where young people can engage with global peers to share personal climate action experiences, voice their concerns, and explore the impact of climate change in their communities, as the world seeks to tackle one of its most pressing challenges.
During the COP29 Youth Dialogues, participants aged 13-17 will engage in 60-minute virtual conversations centred on climate change. These sessions will be guided by Generation Global's skilled facilitators, offering a unique opportunity for young people to reflect on the impact of climate change on their lives and learn about the perspectives of their peers worldwide.
Certificate of Participation
A certificate of participation will be awarded to all young people who take part in a COP29 Youth Dialogues video conference, certifying their foundational knowledge of the topic and their application of dialogue skills.

Message to Generation Global students from the COP29 Youth Climate Champion
Leyla Hasanova, the UNFCCC Youth Climate Champion for COP29 in Azerbaijan, sent a special contribution to our series of video conferences on Climate Change in honour of COP29. She has taken time to reflect on and respond to the video conference agenda questions that our facilitators have prepared for young people engaging in dialogue this week.
Video conference agenda
Overview
Aims
In this video conference dialogue with your global peers, you will have the opportunity to share and learn about climate change and its impact locally and globally while practising key dialogue skills:
- Sharing - speak for yourself only and not on behalf of others; use 'I' and not 'we'.
- Responding - stay curious; ask critical questions; seek clarification for what you do not understand; show you value the contributions of others
- Reflecting - keep asking yourself what you are learning, how you are learning and what this new learning means for you.
Dialogue should evolve, so we don't want you to come to this dialogue with scripted questions or speeches, but you might want to think about these things prior to the video conference:
- If you were at COP29, what personal story would you bring to leaders about the impact of climate change?
- What message do you think is most important for world leaders to understand about climate action? Why?
- How do you think your community's experience with climate change is connected to what other communities are facing?
Tips
- Being nervous is normal. The best way to overcome your nerves is to join in. Be brave!
- Make sure you are in a space where you will not be disturbed or distracted by others (or devices). Be focused!
- This is a time for you to share, but also a time for you to learn about the experiences and thoughts of others. Be curious!
