Doing Science with Interdependence and Justice in Mind

Dr. Kriti Sharma (PhD) is a biologist and writer, and author of Interdependence: Biology and Beyond and the forthcoming Designing Relationally: Restor(y)ing Life (with co-authors Michal Osterweil and Arturo Escobar). Her work bridges biology, philosophy, and art to re-tell “the story of life” not as struggle and scarcity but as radical interdependence. In her current research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Dr. Sharma is studying microbes in deep-sea sediments in seagrass meadows to better understand how these carbon-sequestering ecosystems can mitigate climate change and what they can teach us about making brave transitions into the unknown.
