Developing global citizens through intercultural dialogue
Generation Global Dialogue Exchange is a free global citizenship education initiative for young people aged 13 to 17.
Through interactive learning, moderated online dialogue and live facilitated video conferences, young people work toward mutual understanding by developing the dialogue skills needed to communicate across different cultures and contexts.
This carries forward the central proposition of the current Generation Global programme.
Learn. Connect. Dialogue.
Dialogue is at the heart of everything we do.
In the Generation Global Dialogue Exchange, young people explore contemporary global topics, reflect on their own experiences and learn directly from peers living in different contexts around the world.
Dialogue Exchange supports young people to:
Explore global topics and how to dialogue about them through interactive activities, videos, case studies, reflection, and peer-to-peer learning spaces in the Ultimate Dialogue Adventure.
Join moderated Dialogue Spaces where young people practice dialogue skills to share experiences, ask questions and engage with different perspectives from peers all around the world.
Take part in live, facilitated Video Conferences on global topics and practise dialogue in real time with young people from different countries and cultures.
Our programme aims to reach all learners and offers multiple access points, from offline activities, to self-directed learning, asynchronous written dialogue, and live facilitated video conferences.
Five core skills of dialogue
Dialogue Exchange develops five core skills that young people can practise and use within and beyond the programme.
Global Communication
Sharing personal experiences, values and perspectives authentically and respecting views that may be different or challenging.
Active Listening
Listening to understand what another person is saying and demonstrating empathy and recognition.
Critical Thinking
Evaluating, analysing and interpreting information about ourselves, other people and the world.
Asking Questions
Asking questions that deepen understanding, include different voices and move dialogue forward.
Reflection
Thinking about our own and others' experience of dialogue and what we can learn from it.
