Educators & Schools
Global citizenship becomes meaningful when young people have opportunities to experience it.
All Generation Global opportunities move learning beyond information and engage young people directly with each other and the topics they care about.
Generation Global gives educators and schools flexible ways to connect learning with dialogue, community, global issues, and action.
Dialogue Exchange helps young people aged 13 to 17 develop the skills to communicate and learn across cultures, backgrounds and perspectives.
Young people can engage directly with peers from other contexts, learn about others values and experiences, and explore a range of topics that align to subject content through our online learning platform, the Ultimate Dialogue Adventure.
Educators can use the free Teacher Portal to:
- Invite groups of learners
- assign interactive topics on global issues
- follow learners' progress
- access teaching resources and classroom activities
- book facilitated international video conferences
- access professional development in intercultural dialogue.
The Teacher Portal currently combines these functions in one educator environment and is free to join.
Festival of Hope can be built around the needs and interests of your own community.
A Festival might be a day of dialogue, a series of workshops, a creative exhibition, a speaker programme or the starting point for ongoing action. Young people should play a central role in designing and hosting it.
It does not require an IB World School. Festivals can be organised by individual schools, groups of schools or wider communities.
The Global Youth Action Fund gives eligible young people aged 12 to 19 a route from an idea to a real community project.
Educators can help young people identify needs, develop their thinking and prepare applications while keeping ownership of the project with the young people themselves.
Projects supported by the Fund address the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are open to eligible young people in both IB and non-IB settings.
Resources that fit different settings
Generation Global is designed for more than one type of classroom.
Dialogue resources can be used within curriculum subjects, advisory or pastoral programmes, enrichment activities, clubs, blended learning and other formal or non-formal learning environments. Materials include Essentials of Dialogue, Difficult Dialogue in the Classroom, topic resources and classroom-ready activities.
Learning with evidence behind it
Dialogue Exchange embeds evaluation into the learning journey so that we can understand whether participation is associated with changes in attitudes and dialogue capabilities over time.
Current longitudinal data tracks areas including diversity awareness, attitudes towards difference, global communication, active listening, critical thinking, asking questions and reflection.
