Story
Festival of Hope Lebanon
“What gives the life we all share meaning?”
“Where do you see opportunities to act?”
“What is the road asking of you?”
These are questions that caught Layal’s attention and mine while watching the Festival of Hope trailer at the IB Global Conference in the Hague in October 2022. An initiative launched with the aim of empowering IB World Schools to actively work together to identify possibilities, take transformational action and create positive change in the wider communities.
“This is our moment to rise”; a powerful closing statement of the same trailer that motivated us to bring the initiative to our association meetings to collaboratively explore how to offer IB students in Lebanon a platform to showcase their creative work and service-learning projects.
The event was held on Wednesday 24th May, 2023 and was a celebration of collaboration and student-led initiatives, as it brought together 19 out of the 27 member schools towards a common goal of spreading hope and positivity in a country where challenges are endless.
