Story
Open Mic | May 29th, 2023 | Pathways School Gurgaon, New Delhi
Facilitated by Letters to Strangers, this open mic session was an opportunity for young people from all over India to use creative expression as a way to reflect on their personal stories and struggles with mental health and ideas of hope. Arushi Kataria opened precedings with her own story and why Letters to Strangers India was born. As an organisation, they have facilitated many similar events where poetry, music and movement open doors to connection around things that we care deeply about or that trouble us.
Aarushi Kataria is the Founder of Letters to Strangers + India and the Regional Coordinator + India Ambassador for Letters to Strangers. She began working on the chapter in September 2019 and has helped it grow from a city-based chapter to a country-wide chapter. She is currently a Master of Public Policy Student at the University of Chicago. She believes writing will be the only home she'll ever know. She published her first book, "Turning Antonyms Into Paradoxes", at the age of 16 and is ranked as one of India's best poets. In her free time, she can be found with her head buried in books or discovering indie artists in India.
