Astrid's Oozey Gooey Brownies
Astrid's Oozey Gooey Brownies is a student-led social enterprise and advocacy mission dedicated to enhancing community understanding on the topic of neurodiversity. As a team, we are inspired by the resilience of Astrid, who navigates the world with autism, epilepsy, and visual impairment.
Our project uses baking as a unique platform to break down social barriers and initiate necessary conversations about acceptance as baking is one of her favorite activities.
Our mission is to create a safe space where neurodivergent masking is unnecessary within and beyond the NIST International School community, showing that every individual deserves to be heard, valued, and involved in change.
Our primary goal is to ameliorate the cost of conformity, the burnout and loss of identity caused by masking, where neurodivergent people suppress their natural traits to fit into a neurotypical world.
Ultimately, we hope to cultivate & establish a culture where difference is valued rather than condemned, in which neurodivergent traits and neurodiversity is not only normalized but also celebrated.
