Caroline Ngonze leads implementation of the Education Plus Initiative, which is co-led by the Executive Directors of five UN agencies – UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women. The initiative is centered on the empowerment of adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa, with secondary education as the strategic entry point to prevent and respond to HIV.
Education Plus brings governments, donors, civil society and the UN together to support champion countries to align their policies and investments and guarantee free secondary education for all, comprehensive sexuality education, sexual and reproductive health rights, violence-free environments, and effective school-to-work transitions.
