Check-In
At the heart of it, Project Check In’s central aim is to ameliorate the existing gaps in women’s healthcare, particularly for women from socio-economically marginalized communities.
Through the creation and dissemination of effective resources (textual and in-person grassroots interventions) the project has been working towards bolstering accessible healthcare infrastructure and preventative care, empowering women to understand the signs and symptoms of common ailments better. In this ongoing journey of fostering a community of care, the project has helped multiple women from underserved communities understand themselves better by gaining better knowledge about their bodies and minds, empowering them to become autonomous, not just in making meaningful healthcare choices but in the socioeconomic decisions they make in their everyday lives. The intellectually enriching space provided by the IB curriculum has constantly inspired me to think closely about translating the lessons learned within the classroom space to foster meaningful social change. It is this underlying goal to build a healthier, safer, and more equal future that informs Check-In. By focusing on the healthcare inequities faced by the overlooked sections of society, underserved women in particular, the long-term goal is to usher in holistic development by enhancing the quality of every individual’s life.
