A Cup of Milk
I aim to work with a rural Sri Lankan community to develop community scale milk pasteurization techniques, so each local community can safely provide 1 cup of milk per child each day, to local schools. This will greatly enhance the nutritional value of the food programme I am already involved in.

The proposal will enable a rural community in Sri Lanka, that I am already working with, to be able to pasteurize and distribute milk to schools within the community. This community-led milk programme will not only provide local schools with daily milk but will enable local families to sell excess milk, helping to alleviate the pressures of the economic crisis.
The one-off set up of this projects will enable communities to become self-reliant; no longer having to rely on charity donations for milk provision. Rural scale milk production of this nature has never previously been done in the country. This model will provide a pilot study that can be replicated throughout rural schools.
After working closely with Sri Lankan school communities, I have been inspired by what a community can achieve by working together and I truly believe this project can be part of a brighter, more sustainable future.
