EarthPulse, is a youth-led Mombasa, Kenyan initiative transforming organic food waste into compost, promoting regenerative agriculture, and advancing future clean-energy innovations.

Aligned with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and Aga Khan Development Network’s Climate Action priority, the Project began with a practical response to landfill waste and has grown into a community-based model for environmental action.

Over the last 1.5 years, composting programs have been initiated near landfill sites, and expansion into school communities is also being pursued, where students are actively engaged in segregating organic waste, turning it into compost, and using it for food production on school grounds.

This model is now showing quantified results in waste reduction, rejuvenating school land, and creating a system for the reuse of waste as food production inputs. The EarthPulse is about scaling up by leveraging science, technology, and innovation through AI-powered, data-driven systems for waste tracking, collection optimization, and environmental decision-making, while building youth-led waste collection and biogas solutions with organic food waste for households facing exorbitant fuel prices, EarthPulse is advancing an African model of climate action that is local, circular, scalable, and rooted in community resilience.
