Eco-Friendly Briquettes for Clean Cooking
We are tackling air pollution and health risks caused by traditional cooking methods like firewood and charcoal.
We are tackling air pollution and health risks caused by traditional cooking methods like firewood and charcoal.
Many families in our community suffer from respiratory illnesses due to smoke exposure, while deforestation and waste accumulation harm the environment. Our solution? Training students to produce eco-friendly briquettes from agricultural waste—such as banana peels, sawdust, and crop residues. These briquettes burn cleaner, reducing harmful smoke and providing a safer, more sustainable cooking fuel. By repurposing waste, we also cut down on pollution and promote a circular economy. Goals:
- Reduce indoor air pollution and improve community health.
- Empower students with green entrepreneurship skills.
- Decrease reliance on firewood to protect local forests.
- Turn waste into a valuable resource, keeping our environment clean.
With support from IB, we aim to scale this project, creating a healthier, greener future for KENYA.
