Profile
Eco-Glow
EcoGlow is a social innovation project that provides affordable, safe, and sustainable lighting solutions to off-grid and underserved communities.
Inspired by lived experiences with kerosene lamps, linked to respiratory illnesses, eye problems, and high costs, EcoGlow replaces harmful lighting with solar-powered systems designed using locally available materials, including recycled plastics.
Each unit is durable, with solar panels and batteries lasting up to 8 years and LED bulbs up to 5 years. It also includes a phone-charging feature and an alternative salt-water recharging option when lime water expires, making it practical and accessible.
Beyond distribution, EcoGlow focuses on education and community empowerment through outreach programmes in schools and households, promoting clean energy, environmental sustainability, and health awareness. Through this project, we aim to expand access to safe lighting, reduce plastic pollution, and improve quality of life by enabling better study conditions, reducing health risks, and supporting sustainable community development.
