Meet EcoKom, a student-led organization based in Jakarta, focused on fostering a sustainable future for Indonesia through composting.
We discovered that Jakarta produces a staggering 20.93 million tonnes of food waste annually, prompting us to research solutions. Our solution: BIOPORES, a simple yet affordable and sustainable alternative to traditional food waste disposal methods. At EcoKom, we emphasize how easy it is to start community composting and aim to address environmental issues like food waste, flooding, and soil degradation in Indonesia. Our mission is to seamlessly integrate biopores into local communities, raising awareness through educational campaigns and teaching the benefits and process of DIY biopore implementation at local schools via school tours and social media campaigns.
