Profile
EcoPsych
EcoPsych is a student-led environmental advocacy project that combines psychology and environmental science to tackle environmental issues by changing mindsets and school environments—starting in Vietnam!
The operations of EcoPsych lie in behavioural psychology which dictates that environmental cues can influence individuals’ actions and long-term environmental habits. Several psychological experiments have demonstrated that by redesigning our environments, we can leverage human behaviour and correct our everyday habits e.g. bringing our own coffee cup to cafés. Neuroscience studies have shown time and time again that students learn what they see. So how can we prevent today's students, future leaders of tomorrow, from normalising the rampant plastic consumption they witness at school? EcoPsych is a student organisation that uses nudge theory to advise schools on how to create environments that promote eco-friendly actions ... think of us like a behavioural compass, guiding you towards sustainable choices, nudge by nudge! We will use the Global Youth Action Fund to conduct meticulous field analyses, collaborate with school authorities and transform schools into spaces that encourage sustainable behaviour. We are a sprawling network of change-makers, passing down the gift of environmental psychology one school and one brave student leader at a time!
