EmpoderaMIA: My Power, My Economy
EmpoderaMIA: My Power, My Economy is a transformative initiative dedicated to architecting economic and environmental resilience within the marginalized rural and indigenous communities of Panama. The project operates on the principle of 'Waste-to-Wealth,' re-engineering the circular economy into a practical vehicle for social justice.
EmpoderaMIA provides a specialized platform where rural women are trained to reclaim their economic agency by transforming local waste streams—such as plastics and agricultural byproducts—into high-value, market-ready products.
The project's goal is to move beyond simple recycling to facilitate the launch of fifteen new women-led green micro-enterprises, creating a decentralized network of sustainable commerce. By integrating rigorous impact-tracking with radical community trust, EmpoderaMIA ensures that environmental stewardship is directly linked to financial independence.
We are building a future where the 'last mile' of the Global South is not a recipient of external solutions, but the primary engineer of a regenerative, equitable, and self-sustaining economy. Our mission is to prove that when you empower a community to own its resources, you secure the health of the entire planet.
