“EmpowerUp” is an initiative dedicated to enabling people with disabilities (PwDs) to participate fully and confidently in society.

The project aims to promote both social and economic inclusion by raising awareness about disability inclusion, supporting employment opportunities, and developing simple assistive technologies that improve independence for specially abled individuals daily life.

The initiative follows a holistic, 360-degree approach to inclusion. The project is built on four main pillars: sensitization, access to government schemes for support, assistive technology access, and employment opportunities for specially abled individuals. As part of the project, a short film on disability inclusion was created and screened to sensitize students and community members.

Awareness was also raised about government schemes available to support people with disabilities, helping them access important benefits and opportunities. In addition, assistive technologies such as sensor-enabled walking sticks for visually impaired individuals were developed and donated to an NGO.

The project also works toward economic inclusion by encouraging organizations to consider employment opportunities for differently abled individuals. With the support of the IB, “EmpowerUp” hopes to expand its reach, challenge stereotypes surrounding disability, and help create a more inclusive society where individuals with disabilities are empowered.
