EmpowerHer
EmpowerHer is a youth-led initiative addressing period poverty and menstrual health education among girls in government schools in India.
The project aims to ensure that menstruation does not become a barrier to education, health, or confidence by combining access to safe hygiene products with skill-based learning. Building on an initial phase that provided menstrual hygiene kits, EmpowerHer now plans to expand into its second phase with the support of the Global Youth Action Fund.
This phase will focus on conducting skill-based workshops that teach girls how to create reusable menstrual products through our workshop kits so they can manage their menstrual health independently. Students will receive materials to create their own menstrual pads and will be guided to understand what fabrics to use, how to use them safely, and how to maintain proper hygiene.
To extend impact beyond workshops, EmpowerHer plans to develop a digital platform where educational content, including videos on menstrual health, will be accessible, and our kits will be available for selling ultimately reaching to a wider distribution. Through this phase, the project aims to create sustainable, long-term impact, reduce stigma, and empower girls with confidence, dignity, and self-reliance.
