Empowering Girls through Access to Reusable Sanitary Pads in Rural Uganda
In many rural schools across Uganda, girls face challenges in managing their menstrual hygiene due to the unavailability and high cost of sanitary pads.
This situation leads to absenteeism, poor academic performance, adverse health effects and eventually school dropout among girls. The proposed project aims to address the menstrual hygiene needs of girls in rural schools by producing and distributing re-usable sanitary pads made out of locally available materials. The project will involve the establishment of a local production facility, school/community engagement, and educational initiatives to promote menstrual hygiene awareness in targeted rural schools. By implementing this project, we aspire to empower girls in rural schools of Uganda, break down barriers to education, and contribute to a healthier, more inclusive community.
