The Hub: Food security education in a changing climate
Skills & Soup is programming by The Hub in Morija, Lesotho, that provides 100 children and adolescents with weekly nutritional meals, life skills, and after-school tuition.
We are thrilled to have received funding from the Global Youth Action Fund to radically increase the impact of The Hub’s Skills & Soup programming by developing the ample available garden space on the property by installing drip irrigation for its agricultural vegetable farming project.
The Hub’s agricultural program is a highly relevant and important project in terms of promoting food security, organic and sustainable farming practices, and adaptation to climate change in Lesotho. Find out more: https://flow.page/thehubatmorija
The produce from the garden will benefit the food insecure participants who attend Skills & Soup. The Hub will also include entrepreneurial lessons for the participants, such as planting of fruit tree seedlings to be sold.
The Hub aims to capacitate young people with academic, agricultural, technological, and digital media skills that will help them to pursue employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and to become healthy, active, well-informed and outspoken citizens.
