Project Janam is a youth-led initiative that transforms old shipping containers into fully equipped, mobile birthing clinics to bring safe childbirth facilities to rural and underserved communities.

Project Janam is a youth-led initiative that transforms old shipping containers into fully equipped, mobile birthing clinics to bring safe childbirth facilities to rural and underserved communities.

In many parts of India, women are still forced to give birth in unsafe, unhygienic conditions — often without trained help, running water, or electricity.

Project Janam tackles this crisis by providing clean, climate-controlled clinics that can be transported to remote villages, ensuring mothers have access to dignified, safe, and supported births. Each clinic is staffed by trained midwives, supported by a network of gynecologists, and equipped with essential medical supplies. The project also runs virtual training sessions to upskill local women as community birth attendants and distributes a free pregnancy guidebook in regional languages, endorsed by the Indian Ministry of Health.

With support from the IB community and the Global Youth Action Fund, we aim to expand across multiple states in India, reduce maternal and neonatal deaths, and empower women with knowledge, care, and respect. At its heart, Project Janam is about restoring humanity to childbirth — one container, one village, one mother at a time.
