Due to its isolated and rural location, the Moshaweng Valley has been forgotten by the South African government. This has impacted education in the Valley in a negative way, especially literacy and learning. The Kalahari Experience works together with local communities to inspire, motivate, and empower students to reach their full potential through teaching, support, and the provision of necessary resources. Currently, the project works with youth, no longer in the official education system, as well as supporting reading rooms in local primary schools. In addition, we have created a Learning Management System accessible in high schools and community centers, to provide free access to a variety of learning materials, accessible all year round. Furthermore, we partner with a local NGO targeting computer literacy through the provision of free computer training, printing, and job applications. Looking ahead, we hope to continue and expand these projects. The aim is that students will qualify for access to higher education and eventually return to the Valley to support its development.
