Little Lights Big Dreams
Little Lights, Big Dreams is a youth-led initiative focused on addressing energy poverty and its impact on education in underserved communities across Nigeria.
With over 56% of schools lacking reliable electricity, millions of children especially those in rural areas and IDP camps are unable to study effectively after dark. This limits their academic performance, reduces opportunities for growth, and deepens existing inequalities.
Our solution is simple, practical and locally driven. We design and fabricate these lights using locally and readily available materials and we train children to build their own DIY light kits powered by batteries, using affordable and accessible materials.
Unlike other available solutions, our approach is hands-on and affordable, empowering children not just to receive light, but to create it themselves. This builds confidence, creativity, and foundational problem-solving skills.
