OceanVoyager
Corals not only provide habitat for over 25% of all marine species, but they also protect coastlines, support local tourism, and provide food for billions.
However, coral bleaching has been a pressing issue for the past few decades. This directly impacts local fisheries, such as the ones in Indonesia, where millions depend on coral reefs as a source of income and food. Our solution is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) called OceanVoyager, which is equipped with a live CCTV camera and two robotic arms to monitor and clean corals.
OceanVoyager will assist in restoring coral reefs located 1-20 meters below sea level. Users will be able to monitor coral health from land and assist in tasks such as placing corals and removing marine debris and oceanic wastes. The ability to perform these tasks remotely helps to reduce operational costs and human resource requirements, while also improving the frequency and efficiency of monitoring efforts. This technology ensures a more sustainable approach to coral restoration projects.
