Our water, our future, ours to protect: Rainwater Collection
In this project, the Greengates School in Mexico City has partnered with Foundation Amistad Britanico-Mexicana, a charity run throughout Mexico, to install a rainwater collection system.
The chosen school is EST 27, a public school in the state of Mexico that currently lacks sufficient clean water. Unicef data confirms that water and basic sanitary conditions improve education by up to 50% in disadvantaged communities. This is because schools that lack reliable water supply may need to be closed for a time disrupting learning and contaminated water may also cause significant health problems. For this reason, we believe that providing EST 27 with a reliable source of clean water has the potential to make a significant positive contribution in the community. Greengates faculty, students and families will participate in the installation of the water tanks system, which will benefit both schools and create bonds of understanding and friendship.
