Project Drishti
At Project Drishti, we believe in harnessing the power of sound to transform the lives of visually impaired students. Our goal is to provide solutions that not only facilitate learning but also foster joy and creativity.
So far, we have built an audio library for the Devnar School for the Blind in Hyderabad, Telangana, with over 3,500 audiobooks for grades 1 through 10, and high-quality speakers for every classroom. The audiobooks include fiction, short stories, nonfiction, and academic textbooks in three different languages, to meet the diverse needs of every student. We have also established a passionate and enthusiastic network of over 100 volunteers who have played a key role in the project's success. Their dedication made it possible for Devnar to conduct its first trial using scribes for exams, which was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and staff alike.
With IB’s generous support through the Global Youth Action Fund, we aim to expand our project by building audio libraries for several other schools in Hyderabad and widen our volunteer network even further. Everyone deserves resources that work for them, and Project Drishti is committed to making that a reality.
