ReadEase is a portable, handheld assistive device designed to help visually impaired individuals access printed and visual information independently.

It uses a camera and a vision-based processing model to convert text, objects, and surroundings into clear, meaningful audio output in real time. This allows users to read textbooks, identify everyday items, and better understand the environment around them without relying on others.

Our vision is to make inclusive learning accessible for every student by providing equal access to information, from one classroom to every classroom. With the support of the IB Global Youth Action Fund, we aim to build multiple units of our prototype to conduct more varied field testing with visually impaired users.

This will allow us to gather feedback, refine usability, and iterate on the design. Our goal is to develop a more reliable and effective solution that truly supports independence in education and everyday life. Following this, we aim to develop a market-ready product for real-world deployment.
