Reducing Inequalities and Mindfulness for Maker's of Singapore

I wanted an opportunity to interact with migrant workers in Singapore, understand and support them more and share my findings with others.

I wanted an opportunity to interact with migrant workers in Singapore, understand and support them more and share my findings with others.

As such I decided to focus my IB Personal Project on this. I started teaching them art in June 2023. As per Maslow’s Law of Hierarchy, even though their physiological and safety needs ( lower down in the hierarchy) are met, many of them do not feel love, belonging, and a sense of connection (higher needs) in the Singapore community. In addition, there are many other benefits of art. For example, it improves well-being; lowers heart rate; increases creativity, and gives a sense of happiness. I also believe learning art historically is only done by wealthy people or only artists. Teaching art, which is my passion, is also my way of bringing social equality. Going forward I want to teach more well-being-related art forms like Zentangle. I also want to teach migrant workers (I believe they should be called MAKERS OF SINGAPORE ) how to paint a mural and open an art studio so that MAKERS OF SINGAPORE can continue to learn and explore various art forms.
