Rise Up: A community led, food programme for Sri Lankan Schools

Due to the government's economic troubles in Sri Lanka, secondary school meals are no longer provided by the government. I have been working with the charity Rise Up, providing school meals to children in Sri Lanka, through charity donations. In Dec 2022, I travelled to Sri Lanka and worked onsite with the school parent community to cook and provide school meals to children. The donations for this charity project are now diminishing due to the length of the crisis, combined with lessoning funds due to donor fatigue, as the apparent emergency of the crisis diminishes. I hope to develop the current meal program into a self-sustaining, community led, beyond-charity model for the on-going delivery of school meals.
