Sayap Ilmu Sumba Trip 2025
Founded in 2014, Sayap Ilmu ("Wings of Knowledge") is a student-led initiative dedicated to empowering children in Indonesia's remote communities through means of education and Indonesian literature.
In a nation where poverty and geography often determine a child's future, we believe that education can break the cycle. Yet, millions still lack access, especially in rural areas, where underfunded schools and scarce resources limit potential and opportunity.
As students who have been afforded educational opportunities, we recognize both our privilege and the responsibility it carries. It is these disadvantaged, overlooked communities that we aim to serve, because we believe in the transformative power of education. At Sayap Ilmu, we provide critical learning resources to schools in remote regions, promote Indonesian literature through book donations and literacy programs, and support rural teachers with training and mentorship.
Through partnership with the IB, we hope to raise global awareness about educational inequality in Indonesia and demonstrate how simple actions, like donating books or volunteering, can transform lives, both for those who give and those who receive. We aim that this partnership can truly foster change in our country.
