We want to use this grant in order to fund our research project, where we are combining three materials (SCOBY from kombucha tea, chitosan, and guar gum) in order to analyze its potential as a wound dressing which is strong, has antibacterial properties, and biodegradable.

As such, it will add to existing scientific literature regarding sustainable wound dressings.

From the results of the investigation, we plan to share the journey with our direct school community, fostering an interest in using science to create sustainable solutions in age groups from elementary to high school - tailoring discussions based on age groups. We can make kombucha brewing sessions to raise awareness on biomaterials with great potential, supported by seminars.
