STEAM work makes the dream work! Building a Science Explorium to Inspire STEAM Education Through Hands-On Learning

Our project, supported by the IB Global Youth Action Fund, aims to create lasting impact through hands-on, inclusive STEAM education in Jamaica.

Our project, supported by the IB Global Youth Action Fund, aims to create lasting impact through hands-on, inclusive STEAM education in Jamaica.

Recognizing that many communities lack access to interactive science learning, our student-led team is designing and building a science explorium featuring engaging exhibits such as the Bop Organ, Newton’s Cradle, and Archimedes’ Screw. These interactive tools will teach core concepts in physics, engineering, and environmental science through play and experimentation, making learning exciting, meaningful, and accessible for all.

In partnership with local students, educators, and university mentors, we’re working to foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. The explorium will serve as a permanent, community-based space where youth can explore science in fun and relevant ways. This project also strengthens cross-cultural collaboration, empowers students as change-makers, and promotes sustainable, grassroots innovation.

Our goal is not just to build exhibits, but to spark a culture of discovery and equity through engaging STEAM workshops. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire a new generation of problem-solvers in Jamaica and demonstrate the power of youth-led action grounded in compassion, creativity, and purpose. We are honored to help make learning joyful, local, and lasting.
