Sustainable and Modular Water Filtration and Collection
Our project aims to address the issues regarding water sanity and availability in underdeveloped areas of Central and South America.
Through the use of a novel design, we created a system to capture, store, and purify water, utilizing a sustainable and modular approach, while maintaining accessibility by being 10 to a 1000 times cheaper compared to similar solutions while being 20% more effective at filtration. We built our system to use passive and active filtration specifically through ceramic filtration and electrocoagulation to harness the greatest energy efficiency while reducing the presence of harmful pathogens and water-borne diseases by over 97%. The system's unique two drum design allows for the filtration and collection drums to be completely separate, allowing multiple households to share the same filtration system and allows for expandability to further scale the size of collection. This water filtration and collection system is able to transform the lives of those facing water inequality by providing them with a human right and has the ability to change the communities it surrounds forever.
