Tackling hunger and food waste
We will reduce food loss by making dyed handkerchiefs and towels from rotten or unusable vegetables, fruits, and tea.
We've got 1kg of useless tea leaves from a tea shop for free. Then we will sell them by borrowing space in a shopping mall in our city. Also, we will organize events where people can try their hand at grass dyeing, renting part of a shop in the shopping mall. Through its events, people can enjoy grass dyeing and learn about SDGs and the food loss issues that are close to our hearts. We will sell our goods at our school bazaar too, which is held in October. We think it important to tell young people about food loss issues because a lot of young people are not understanding what is happening in detail. Next, we will buy foods that will last a long time, such as emergency rations and preserved foods. We then donate the food we buy with the profits we earn to support the Kodomo Shokudo(child cafeteria), a social initiative in Japan that provides free or inexpensive nutritious meals to residents, mainly children.
We hope that more people will gain something new from our projects.
