Vidya
VIDYA is a student-led initiative focused on designing sustainable community learning spaces in rural areas. It began through field visits to government schools, rural communities, and juvenile homes, where I observed that while access to education existed, the quality of learning environments often constrained student engagement and well-being.
VIDYA is a student-led initiative focused on designing sustainable community learning spaces in rural areas. It began through field visits to government schools, rural communities, and juvenile homes, where I observed that while access to education existed, the quality of learning environments often constrained student engagement and well-being.
VIDYA addresses this by creating sustainable and climate-responsive spaces that support academic learning, creativity, collaboration, and emotional well-being. These spaces are shaped from direct data and feedback from students and local communities, ensuring they cater to real needs rather than inefficient solutions.
What makes VIDYA different is its emphasis on youth involvement. Students are not just supportive figures, but rather they become active participants by contributing to design ideas, conducting sessions, and supporting peer learning. This creates a model that is inclusive and self-sustaining.
Moving forward, the project's goal is to establish the first pilot learning space and to develop a replicable framework that can be applied and used to expand across different regions. By partnering with local NGOs and communities in the long term, VIDYA aims to create environments that help students build important life skills and confidence, and provide opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and help improve their futures.
