Votebins is a youth-led sustainability initiative that transforms recycling into an engaging experience by letting people "vote with their waste." By placing bins with fun, this-or-that questions in public spaces (eg.

cats or dogs?), we make recycling more interactive and intuitive — boosting proper waste disposal while sparking conversation around environmental action. Our goal is to reduce landfill waste, encourage behavioural change, and make sustainability a visible and exciting part of everyday life. Additionally, we believe this is an excellent way to inspire young children to speak up and act on sustainability, which is why we also aim to give presentations and workshops in schools around the world. With support from the Global Youth Action Fund, we aim to expand Votebins across New Zealand and Internationally, reaching schools, events, and city centres — turning recycling into a habit, not a hassle. We also hope to grow a solar panel-powered version.
